Additional Learning Needs
Our Additional Learning Needs department is led by Mr Fleet, who is the Assistant Headteacher for Progress, Wellbeing and Inclusion.
Miss Cooper is the Additional Learning Needs Inclusion Manager. Miss Cooper leads a team that includes an ALNCo and a team of Teaching Assistants. They provide a range of support within class and through withdrawals and specific intervention groups in order to assist our students and address their individual needs.
In KS3 there are a range of interventions run by our Additional Learning Needs department. These are designed for pupils who may need additional support with emotional development, resilience and processing skills. The aim of these sessions is to ensure that our pupils develop the skills needed to thrive in a mainstream classroom.

Year 9 Options
Making the right choice of courses at Key Stage 4 is very important because it may affect a pupil’s progression after Year 11 and possibly their future career opportunities. Option choices will also determine the number, type and grade of qualifications a pupil will achieve as well as their enjoyment of Years 10 and 11. Therefore, the decision making involved in the options process deserves careful consideration of the information, advice and guidance provided by the school.
